Established in the year 1986, Indian Rare Earths Limited is a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy is situated at Matikhalo village of Chatrapur. It is underOrissa Sands Complex (OSCOM), which extracts various minerals from the sand of Bay of Bengal; such as ilmenite, zircon, silimanite, garnet, ruffle, monazite etc. It is a project of around 300 crore rupees with 1400 employees workstation. 

Jayshree Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. at Ganjam, Chatrapur 
Established in the year 1967, Jayshree Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. is the second industry of Ganjam district after Aska Cooperative Sugar India Ltd. (1963). It is a 30 crore rupee project, which has around 600 employees. It produces caustic soda, chlorine liquid, sulfur dioxide gas, hydrochloric acids etc.
